What assistive technology can and can't do


  • AT doesn't cure or eliminate learning differences like dyslexia.

  • It doesn't substitute good teaching or best practice interventions like multisensory structured language programmes.

  • AT isn't something 'special' just for individuals with learning differences.

  • AT does not provide the user with an unfair advantage.  

  • AT can however assist those with learning differences to reach their potential by enabling them to be able to perform functions that might otherwise be difficult.
